Long Fence - Yard work not completed as promised and paver wall has open areas.
We have been working with the pavers's installation contact Bobby who services Frederick County. There were a few glitches with colors and the layout that were worked through. He promised to come out and fix our yard and patio concerns, even emailed this in writing to us. NO response via phone or email. Long Fence received their payment, but they are horrible with customer follow up.

Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered

User's recommendation: I would use a company that pavers is there specialty, like a landscaping company. Long fence should stick with fences.

Worst Deck and ReDecking Experiencewith Long Fence

I purchased a Vinyl Deck supposebly a TREX Deck 11 years ago and was told I had a lifetime warranty of NO warping. That's when i had my 1st bad experience with Long Fence. Itwas living *** when they took down my Deck and NO one would return my calls about installation date it took me going into thier office and demanding to see the President before I got my deck completed which took over 2 weeks. Fast forward to 2019 the Deck has warped badly and I contacted Long Fence and left several messages finally Victoria returns my call and attempts to debate with me that the Deck is 11 years old and i will have to pay for them to RE-Deck (replace the deck that I was told had a lifetime warranty) to the tune of $5000. it again was the worst experience I had to have long fence come out to my home 7 times to get the RE-deck completed. They do not have a problem asking for the money.. Very dissatisfied customer.

I signed my contract for the fence to be installed on April 3, 2018. My contract stated that work would begin in approximately 3-5 weeks and be completed in 1-2 days. My salesman Daniel Petro said the job would be done before we opened our pool mid-May and it would be completed in one long day with a 4 to 6 man crew unless it rained. He added an extra day just in case. The contract also stated I needed to remove my old fence so, at the 3 week mark I removed my old fence and waited after about 4 ½ weeks we called and were given a story about delayed shipments and how they were busy. I was informed that we were set for a June 7 install date this is 12 weeks away not the 3-5 weeks that I bought the contract on.

I called Daniel the salesman and voiced my concerns with the inaccurate information that he gave me during the sales pitch, he informed me to contact his boss Barry Kishter Sales Manager Long Fence, which I did. Barry told me that Daniel should not have given me the original estimate of 3-5 weeks. I contacted Danial about this and he told me that Berry tells him what dates to use. We complained some more and got moved up to May 17 (they claim they always move people up) then Mike Patterson in scheduling called back and said they gave us the wrong date and moved us to May 18. Then the rain came and we were rescheduled for May 21 and from there it all went downhill.

On Monday May 21, a 2 man crew arrived to start on our project when I asked if more people were coming, I was told no it was just them. I inquired about the rest of the supplies and was told they were only setting the poles today. I asked how long the job would take and he tells me about 3-5 days. The 1 to 2 day install was all of the sudden going to take 3-5 days so I called and talked to Mike in scheduling again to complain about the way it was affecting my work schedule and was given the song and dance about the rain (mind you it did not rain the month and a half prior, but they didn’t want to hear that). I was told the Sales manager Barry would call me back in reference to my concerns. I gave Barry 24 hours he never called me so I called Mike back in scheduling to fire Long Fence from the job and had to leave a message on his voice mail. I decided to call Daniel the salesman to let him know about my decision because he was the one that sold the job to me. That is when everything went crazy. Daniel asked me what was wrong, so I told him about my issue and how either Barry or he was lying to me. He instantly went from a calm person to yelling at me about how I better not call him a liar and he then threatened to kick my *** and proceeded to hang up the phone. I waited a few minutes and called him back. Daniel answered but would not listen to me but he gave me a number to long fence and told me to ask for Mike Ritter President of long fence.

I called the number and it was to their call center then I was transferred to Mike’s voice mail. I hung up and immediately called back, I explained to the operator what had happened and I would not accept a voice mail and I would like a supervisor. I was offered Berry but he did not answer, then the operator told me he found Tom Ritter the Director of Divisions. He listened to me and apologized for the situation. He genially seemed to care about the issue and he told me he would check into it and get back to me. About 30 minutes later Mike Ritter president of Long fence called back and apologized. He let me know that Daniel admitted to threating me he allowed me to vent for a few minutes about the issues, then he interrupted me and asked me to stop calling him dude (I was using the word dude as a replacement for other choice words).He stated that I called him dude 7 times and he did not appreciate it. After my scolding from the President he goes into how he just wants to get out there and install my fence. I told him, no thank you but he insisted that I let him work on it. At that point he said that he would call back. 4 hours later I received a call from Long Fence I don’t remember who called to offer me $650 off my $12,424 bill but I still refused and told them to come pick up the uninstalled materials on site and I would pay for the work that had been done.

Today Mark Roberts Field Superintendent came out to my house. He was pleasant and cordial but once again was trying to still sell the job. After telling him no thank you because I refused to let Daniel make a penny in commission from my job, we surveyed the work done he told me he did not handle pricing. I asked him to call his boss and I walked away so he could do his business. I assume that he called Mike Ritter he came back in about 10 minutes with a price that I felt was a little high. He called Mike Ritter back again and we were able to agree on a price for the completed work. I paid Mark, got a receipt, and thanked him for his time. He was the best person I dealt with besides Tom Ritter and the subcontractor that did the work. In case you didn’t know they only have 2 men on staff for fence service work. Most new installs are done by subcontractors, this was only told to me today not when I signed the contract.

I am not satisfied with the service and customer support I was told that damage to my grass was a part of me signing a contract. I was told the 150 discount was all I was going to get. My project didn't finish on time and didn't pass inspection. This has caused more delays in other projects. The work on my project is unacceptable. - it failed inspection - no barrier between home and deck - the hand rail has sharp edges that cut your hand. - the molding is not seeded properly This delay in failing has caused back up on another project I was having completed. We are not pleased with the service we are receiving on this project. I feel that we have been pushed aside and the quality of work and the value of my property is nothing . I truly felt if I was in a more affluent neighborhood or paid more for my project my concerns and the quality of work or the supervision of work would have been better and passed the first time and my grass not be destroyed. I am passing this on the all that I can reach.

Incomplete work

Locks on our gates were not installed completely. Just noticed that several screws were never installed in the first place and other screws were stripped, after calling long fence repeatedly for 3 weeks finally got a response, they decline our claim because they say it was too long from installation and a lot of things could of happened. I asked them what could of happened and the guy said the screws could of cane loose, I told him most of the screws were never installed in the first place. The latch was installed with 2 screws instead of the required 4. Of the 2 screws that were used 1 of them was stripped which caused the latch to be loose. This was what made us examine the latch and lock more closely and notice half the screws were never installed . After 3 weeks of trying to get long fence to come out I finally got a person to listen to me and the call ended with him saying “ I don’t know what to tell you” Stay away from Long fence at all costs

I don't even know where to start it been a very long road with this company and they seem not to get it right. I purchase a fence from this company for $8200 back in March. I could of went with another company for a much cheaper price but the they sold me with the professionalism i was going to be deliver and workman ship. They pretty much black balled me and I fell for it. They inform me it was going to be 6-8 weeks to begin work which was fine because i had some trees to get cut down. 8 weeks later they were ready to install fence. One day I got a call from code enforcement to inform me they will have to stop work due to the workers not having permits to build. My contract with long fence was for work,material, and permits. No permits on premises. Also I wasn't aware they were going to start work that day. So pretty much I came from work with a fence half way up and no approval from me of where fence was going to be located. I came home to an angry neighbor informing me the fencing company I hired took down there side of the fence. Can you imagine to my surprise also LONG FENCE did not put fence on my property line. I called Long Fence spoke to Drew Lenear came out inspect my property with the installation manger.He gave me a lot of excuses of not moving the fence. I had to pay an additional $700 for a boundary survey. once survey completed they moved my fence back but now gates are align. I'm going on the 5 months and still project not completed. Please go with another company its been an Nightmare and headache dealing with this company. Very unprofessional!!

Reckless Driver

I was driving to work this morning on August 23, 2018, at approximately 7:45 a.m. One of your drivers was driving so recklessly that he almost side swiped my vehicle. He was driving a black two door pick-up with a wooden cargo back with stuff in the back of it. There were two people in the truck; the driver and the passenger. I wasn't able to view the driver side, however, the passenger side had a "Long Fence" magnet sign on the passenger door. I was able to get his license plate number; MD TAGS:65752. He was dangerous and aggressive and I want to report him. Is there anyone that reads these emails that cares about this? I would like to remain annoynomous. A Concerned and Disappointed Traveler

Just read this and run the other way , do yourself a favor don't even waste or consider this company for anything . Contract will state 4 to 6 weeks WELL that a B.......T. Been waiting 4 plus months just for a gate (yes I said a gate ) wouldn't want to think if I was waiting for a fence !!) Oh yes gate showed up wrong gate took it back waited longer ( other month ) call told gate coming out the next day , waited and waited never showed up I call informed me gate done wrong again ( Remember I had to call you think as long as I waited they call me in am ) . Promise by installer next morning , I felt I should have to express my concerns to owner of the Company well that conservation I felt he was just going though the emotions to and he said what he had to say. Again I am for my gate .

Long story as the project is yet to be completed, 8wks later. Horrible customer service and total disregard for customers complaint. Incompetent workers, who suggested I hire someone to add lattice to a privacy fence. What lattice, that was not what I asked for. Why would I hire a fence com any to in turn hire someone else. I will never suggest Long Fence to anyone. I want that Long Fence signed removed Long Fence when and if the job every gets completed.

My personal opinion is I would not suggest long fence. We explained to long fence that we had 3 very large strong dogs and we needed the strongest fence they had.

They assured us that we were getting the strongest fence and no dogs could get out. Instead they installed extremely flimsy fence which resulted in my dogs being able to pull up the fence making holes to get out. Which then caused a dog fight and we had to put one of our dogs Down. We contacted long fence multiple times asking them to come out and look at it, since it didn’t seem to be the strongest.

After going back and forth with them for close to a month they finally had a sales person come bring us samples of what they said was our fence. It wasn’t. They said they installed a better fence then what they did, as our contract proved it. We asked for the engineer stamp for the fence and they refused to give it to us and said “they honored the contract and did everyThing right” but then happily gave us a quote to fix the fence that they screwed up, with different fence.

Why would we be changing our fence if we have the strongest? We should have went for the first fence company we found but they were more expensive, we now know why.

This is worst company that I have ever dealt with. The sales person was very ignorant and insisted that we buy something that we did not need or want.

After the fence was installed, we never heard from the company again. I would think that the sales person would want to know of their customer was satisfied

BEWARE of pre-existing conditions

Even thought we waited 6 weeks for the scheduling of our deck, we waited. It was finally installed and looked great. Then we decided to sell our house. The buyers home inspection was done and we were told the deck was not able to pass inspection. We argued that Long Fence, an apparently reputable company, installed it. How could it not pass inspections? The answer was simple. According to the VP of Long Fence, the process known as a "redeck" does not have a county inspection performed on it after completion. We were not told of this detail during our sales process. If I was told it would not be inspected I would have said nevermind! Were we told that our previous deck had a crumbling attachment to the house that would not last? No. The installer just built right over top of it. Long Fence has admitted that the pre-existing conditions are there, they've admitted that I was not told of them, and they refuse flatly to help assist us in remedying the situation. Unbelievable.

Be very careful, watch what you sign. However the person that came out was $6,000. dollars off on measurements. we found out the day the fence was suppose to be put in. The manager had a bad attitude and did not want to work with us at all. we had to keep our fence half open until we came up with more more. Please listen, I do not recommend Long Fence.
